It has been a great week of observances for us here at Propcom Mai-karfi, and today we commemorate the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. More than 2 billion people globally still live in poverty, and in Nigeria more than a quarter of its 170 million people. The north of Nigeria has some of the highest poverty indices in the country, fostering high rates of malnutrition, mortality, and illiteracy. This is why Propcom Mai-karfi focuses its interventions to the north, supporting the development of its vast agricultural potential, and helping to stimulate market shifts which serve the rural poor. Like the rest of the world, we look to a future without extreme poverty.
